well things are settling in

Ok, with older son in college now and mom's emotions calming some things are settling in around here. I find that I have more time on my hands than I am used to but still not enough to get everything done. We have to start school ( I homeschool my 7 yr old) and i just can't get it togheter. most of that I think is because I was raised in the north and school doesn't start until after labor Day. I mean it is 100 degrees outside, who wants to do school work/ let's go to the pool man! But no, down here it is 100 degrees nd the pools are closed because all the lifeguards are in SCHOOL!
Next week I have to get started with him because I like getting done in May.
I spent some time on Jodie's Mall today and added a few stores, I formatted Books. I think it is very nice. If anyone ever finds this blog I wish they would visit. You see, it is my goal to use it to help pay for my son's college. Paying for college is quite a challenge. Register now for Upromise and everytime you use your credit card you are saving for college. I started that when my son was young but I forgot to register my cards when we moved and now we only have about $10. Register with Upromise by clicking here and when you change banks remember to register your new cards. It is totally free and you can have some money for college.

Day one without the teenager

Well, as my last post stated, taking a child to college is very emotional. Today I had to keep reminding myself that he would call if he needed anything. I did talk to him this morning. He is so happy. Classes don't start until Wednesday. I didn't cry but once today, choked up a couple time but I prayed through it. this is ridicuous. the grief is like death. I guess things will never be the same, he will probably meet his wife on campass and he will just never be my little boy again. I am incredibly proud of him, he is really taking care of things well. I am excited to see where the Lord leads him but I sure miss my little boy.
I spent some time today working on my mall. I added some new book places, worked on the "look" and tried to find ways to get email addresses. I think I will run a contest, the first 25 people to sign up for mall news will get...... something, just not sure what.

the emotions of a mother

Well, I moved my son into college this weekend, I have cried a river. It is incredible the emotions a mother can have. I am incrediblly proud of my son. He is maturing into a fantastic young man and yet I cried more than I have cried in a very long time. I have to check myself every few minutes as I find myself wanting to call and see what he's doing. I guess the next few days will be tougher than I thought. I really had planned for things to calm down and us to settle into a routine. I still have two boys at home that keep me very busy, 7 and 3. But after investing the last 11 years of my life into the education of 18 yr old, you see we homeschool, I miss him tremendously. After watching one child make some really bad choices, I have to guard against all these terrible thoughts. I know this one is in the Lord's hands now. He is going to be home on weekends, at least most of them, and yet I still know it will never be the same. It is time for him to move on into manhood. I sure hope he calls.......

Getting ready for college

Hi all,

It has been way to long since I posted. too many things are going on in my life. I am sending my son off to college in less than 2 weeks. It seems like just yesterday he was a baby. We went to the campus, about 1 1/2 hours form home on Wednesday to job search. he put in a few applications but nothing yet. he really needs to get a job because financial aid is not what it needs to be. oh well, the Lord is in control.
my little one, age 7, has big plans for when he is the big guy in the house. things like building a tree house and studying trains. You see we homeschool. I found out this week that one of my favorite homeschool sources is running some sales. if you homeschool or if you like to read really good histroical fiction check out Sonlight. Click the catalog to sign up for a free, yes free catalog. One of the few I have ever read cover to cover.
After that they are offering some great deals. check out this link.

Ok, now back to my life. As if I didn't have enough going on, trying to get one ready for college, decide all the details of homeschooling a 7 yr old, take of of a VERY active 3 yr old, and get a ready to teach co-op classes. My husband finds these great bunk beds at a gargae sale on Saturday. Well it was a deal so we bought them but in order to get the room ready, now i have to PAINT a kids room. Well off we go, mister 7 and me to the store, Wal-mart of course, to buy paint. What does he decide, RED and Yellow with a Nascar board and green trim! WOW! I thought yuck but the red and yellow are done and they look good. tomorro its green and border. vaccuum and probably scrub the carpet then we have a bedroom. i am going to ahve to visit jodiesmall.com for comforters and some cool Nascar stuff. I think I have jst the store:

Get your name on a NASCAR with Fan1st.com

I'll be sure to post some pictures when its finished.

Well, with all of this, I haven't had much time for updating jodiesmall.com and I know there are 2 coupons just begging me to update them. the joy of a virtual mall is that it will be open 24/7 whether or not I have time to be there in person. I did buy a laptop and will now be able to work while at gymnastics and football practice and anywhere else i happen to be with the little ones. Better go for now, sure wish someone read this thing. I will figure out how to get readers eeventually.......

busy day

Busy day
I have been so busy today running errands. I have managed to find time though to add some great deals to my mall. One brand new store in Jodie's mall is offering up to 80% off cell phone accessories! BargainCell.com Up to 80% off Cell Phone Accessories
Another one is offering $10 off a $100 order and they carry just about anything.

Home and Outdoor at Buy.com

I also found a place that has really beautiful checks, you know sometimes you still have to write a check... they offer some really neat ones. beautiful, cute, or patriotic choices. It should be a great addition to the mall. They have a cool calculator for your checkbook that maintains 3 different balences so you don't have to remember howmuch you have spent on that credit card.!

http://www.jodiesmall.com/

I spent some time exploring around My Space too. I can't post in the forums I found, I haven't had an account long enough. I am anxious to meet new people.
Its off to camp on Sunday so no new stores next week. I will be away at Boy Scout camp leading 4th and 5th grade boys in some outdoor activities. That should be great fun.

Great Excitment at the mall! 2 Grand openings!

i am so excited today. Two of my favorite stores have opened their doors in Jodie's mall!

the first one is Sonlight.com. this is a Christian homeschooling suppl source that offers great curriculum for History, Bible and Literature. If you are not a homeschooler, it is still exciting if you like to find great deals on novels. many of the books used in the program are Newberry award winners and are therefore the very best in children's literature. Sonlight is dedicated to making their prices as affordable as possible so you can find great deals here. i hope you check them out.

The second exciting opening is Best Buy! A national chain store with some of the best electronics around has opened its doors in jodie's mall. check out what they have to offer here or go to http://www.jodiesmall.com/.

Free Shipping in the USA, $2.97 Shipping worldwide

I found a really cool bookstore in my search for stores for the mall.
Fund Literacy, Care for the Environment, and get a Fair Price on the Books You Want. Better World Books is the socially conscious consumer's bookstore of choice.
BetterWorld.com offers the lowest shipping rates on the Web: free shipping in the USA, and $2.97 shipping worldwide. They can offer these great rates because, unlike most other online used booksellers, they have all of their used books physically in stock. At any one time, around 2 million books are on the shelves of their Indiana warehouse.
They are an online-only bookseller, and provide outstanding customer service. They have over 100,000 positive feedbacks on both Half.com and Amazon.com
The best part: they are offering 20% off any book through august 3rd. just click the link above and enter coupon code gimme20.
Learning, learning, learning. this whole blog thing is just new to me. My website is up and avaialbe it has lots of really cool sites attached to it now. I think it would be better than our local mall and probably better than the big city mall in Knoxville too. It is great if you are looking for books especially. going back to college? I have some really great stores that offer discounts on books and will buy your old ones too. Are you in Oprah's Book club? I have a link to get her current book for just $6.99 with free shipping! Like eooks? I found a store that has tons of current books avaailbe for download. Check them all out at Jodiesmall.com. It is becoming a really great place to shop.
Now I just have to figure out the best way to advertise!
